This cover meets the conventions of a typical music dvd cover,, this is because it shows the artist and and the name stands out. So he can be easily recognized, and attracts the ethnic background which is related to the artist . It shows money, tattoos, chains and a dark background which is a typical representation of the genre. It says parental advisory, explicit lyrics, which is generally shown on all of the music Cd's from the same genre.

We agree with the majority of the feedback, our main concern is that it only appeals to men and homosexuals, and therefore we have thought it over and decided that we should add girls into this video to include some voyeurism and widen our audience.
We also should have included some more scenes with lip syncing as this would make the video look more professional. Also if we had more people and more different flashes with scenes then this could add more flash to the video and make it more professional too.

also the editing fit the music in the background and the lyrics fit the visuals because the title 'push it' was referred with the weight training.

There wasn't any obvious intertexectuality but an improvement could be the use of some females in the video so the song would appeal to all types of audiences and sell the artist better.

Peer Feedback

U2 - 57 : The video was funny especially the dance routine and the action suited the music. There wasn't much visuals with the lyrics though and not a lot of voyeurism. The artists well sold well as comedians but not much else. This is because we see maz lifting light weights but making out that they are heavy. The hip-hop genre characteristics were shown by the dance routine and the energy of the video.

Genre Characteristics- Video matched the genre of the song and worked well and good choice of location.
Visuals/Music- Very good combination of visuals and music e.g choice of location and costumes.
Visuals/Lyrics- Lyrics matched with video when the song said 'push it' the boys do exercise to match.
Intertexuality- Tim's t-shirt was a Chelsea football with is not part of the video so this is intertextuality.
Need to Sell the Artist- Showed off the artists with a dance routine.

We have learn to make sure that we lip sync next time and try and add more of a professional feel to the video. It went well considering the amateur facilities we had and non of us that appeared in the film were good actors/dancers.

We will be filming our whole intro in the gym, using the main gym room and another section where we will use just the weights. We wanted to break from conventions so decided to just use this one location. We booked it for our filming lesson so that there will be noone in the gym getting in the film or distracting us.
We will be wearing shorts (football shorts), tank tops, trainers and gold chains. The clothes will all be white so that the boys all look the same and that no one person is the focus of the music video.
We will be using the weights etc. in the gym as the props as well as headphones from the media department and an ipod, for when the headphones fall out. We are using headphones from the media department because they are a lot bigger and this will be more obvious in the camera. The dancing will revolve around the weights and machines in the gym.
We want a similar video to Eric Prydz - Call On Me but less pornographic visuals.

Lip Sync Practice

We used final cut to sync a music video to a song. We had to cut the video and make it fit into the sound and this proved to be more difficult than it first appeared. We then added transitions effect to the video for added effect. We used some shortcut keys such as: 'M' key is the marker and 'I' is mark in on video and 'O' is mark out on in Video. To make the screen normal we had to click 'window' then 'arrange' then 'standard'. We had to highlight tracks and delete sound from the video.

We decided to merge our two ideas together, we will use the part of our second idea where someone is listening to an ipod, the lead falls out so it starts playing aloud and then gradually more and more people start dancing. However we will do this in the gym like our first idea. people will be wearing shorts and sweats etc. and will be working out and dancing at the same time, using weights, running machines and aerobic mats.

it will be filmed in the gym and possibly will be using the gym machines and weights. dancing, aerobics style. the outfit will be like all white with sweat bands etc and in the end of the minute everyone will be dancing. Maybe start of a nerds as the video carry on you slowly change to a cool person.

in a classroom and someone starts listening to the song on there i pod and the leads falls out then everyone starts dancing and stripping into gym clothes and then the whole class starts dancing in the classroom and the gym
